Collection day 2
Steve is in the second day of stem cell collection. According to the staff at Huntsman, everything is going great! His white blood count is coming up and he collected 11 million stem cells yesterday. So, says he, "Why do I feel so bad"? He is having a lot of deep bone pain. This is due to the Neulasta shot he receives on Tuesdays. The purpose is to move the cells out of the bone marrow, to be collected. The pain is in his arms now, so he sat up in a chair last night as it was too painful to lay on. We hope he collects all he needs today. He's receiving a platelet transfusion today, as the platelets are low. Keep thinking of him as he (US) need you!

I miss hearing Steve sing the hymns behind me on Sundays. Get better soon
I hope they were able to get everything they needed and you are on your way to feeling better. And someone better have gone up the U to get you a piece of turf!
I was there for the second day of collection. All of the staff at Huntsman kept coming by and saying, "Man Steve, you rocked at this phase!" They were pretty impressed that he went in and out of the neutopenic phase so quick and that he had more than enough cells collected within two days. Of course, we were all pretty excited about that too! The tough part is watching dad go through all this garbage. He's entitled to some off days where he's not feeling like a happy camper. Sure love you, Steve!!-- and for the record, we all think you rock all the time.
